PRESERVATIVES HELP TO COMBAT RADIATION SICKNESS

Scientists have found that common food preservatives BHA and BHT have the potential to prevent radiation sickness in mice. This has created a buzz over the world and research is going on to find whether these chemicals work in the same way on humans too. To understand this first we must know how radiation affects a person.
When a person is exposed to radiation cells (his/her) begin to malfunction, which results in weakening of chemical bonds and the destruction of DNA and hence the reproduction of cells is prevented. This can cause even slow death.
Scientist intend to manually inject these preservatives into the cells which strengthens the bonding and preserves the DNA from external environment. Thus cells would be shielded from the harmful effect of radiation.
