MODI UNDER THREAT?

Although Mr.Narendra Modi , the honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat enjoys Z plus Security, the ISI has planned to assassinate the two great idols of BJP(L.K Advani and Narendra modi). Intelligence has got a tip that the Pakistan based Dawood Ibrahim will architect the new devious plan. Modi had even got an e-mail threat that he would be killed in an interview. Immediately, the center reviewed Narendra Modi’s security arrangements and has planned to beef-up his security still further. It’s a fact that several groups have tried to take Modi’s life but were unsuccessful and now involvment of Dawood Ibrahim in assassination attempt clearly sends out an alarming signal.( I hope the saffron leader prevails).

GOOGLE AND PAYPAL WAGE A WAR ON POLITICAL PHISHING

Google and eBay unit PayPal have silently planned to release solutions to prevent phishing and their target is mainly on the Internet-based political-campaigns. Recently, there were a number of Unauthentic websites, promoting the campaigns for U.S elections which had resulted in flooding of spam. These phising websites are well structured and give us the impression that these are authentic. But what they really do is force us to donate some money for the campaign and cunningly obtain our credit card number. To counter this, PayPal launched its new product” Pay PAL KIT FOR NON-PROFITS" , Google too had its own plan and released its product. They are believed to make the online transactions much safer.

PRESERVATIVES HELP TO COMBAT RADIATION SICKNESS

Scientists have found that common food preservatives BHA and BHT have the potential to prevent radiation sickness in mice. This has created a buzz over the world and research is going on to find whether these chemicals work in the same way on humans too. To understand this first we must know how radiation affects a person.
When a person is exposed to radiation cells (his/her) begin to malfunction, which results in weakening of chemical bonds and the destruction of DNA and hence the reproduction of cells is prevented. This can cause even slow death.
Scientist intend to manually inject these preservatives into the cells which strengthens the bonding and preserves the DNA from external environment. Thus cells would be shielded from the harmful effect of radiation.

MAN MADE DNA!!

Researchers have created the largest man-made DNA structure to date, are in a process of putting them a step closer to producing a completely synthetic organism, scientists say that this is a vital break through feel it’s a milestone in the field of genetics. people believe this will help to improve our understanding of genes and help to unravel mysteries,

The scientists say that this man made gene can be tested against the virus, new drugs and observed. They say that they have found out the chemical which repairs the damaged cell and hope to stimulate it artificially during viral attacks.

A group of skeptics fear that scientist may change the structure of these genes and grow it into a complete new organism or to research biological warfare.

Next step would be to insert the synthetic DNA into living cells and hope it becomes the world's first artificially created, self-replicating organism.

AMD RELEASES THE ALL NEW ATI RADEON HD3870 X2

AMD finally announced its Radeon HD 3870 X2 graphics card today. Its priced around $450 .this high end card actually two Radeon HD 3870 chips onto a single 3D card package.this card is a very good competitor for the n vidia 8800 gtx and 8800 ultra cards.

But even with the power of this dual cards both Nvidia and ATI could just score 30 frames per second at a resolution of 1,280 x 1,024. we all know that 60 frames per second is a must foe all first person shooter games. crysis really is very demanding and is supposed to be a next generation game. ceratainly hardware isn’t able to be at par with software

Note: AMD's ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 uses two 3D chips to process game graphics.

FLASH NEWS: ADAM GILCHRIST ANNOUNCES HIS RETIREMENT

Adam Gilchrist, the Australian vice-captain and a Veteran Wicket Keeper of 96 test matches, has just announced his retirement. The sudden news came at the end of the third day's play between Australia and India at the Adelaide Oval. It's not yet clear whether he will play one-day cricket but this will be his last Test. (More news will be posted about his retirement soon).

Gilchrist has played 95 Test matches ( Before Adelaide Test Match) and has scored 5556 runs at a healthy batting average of 47.82, stamping his authority as one of the leading wicketkeeper-batsmen of all time. He holds one of the best strike rates in test matches at an average of 81.97 per 100 balls. He holds the wicket keeper's record for Most Test dismissals. Gilchrist now has 414 dismissals(377 catches and 37 stumpings) from 96 Tests(Included till day-3 of the Adelaide Test Jan-2008). 20 of Gilchrist's 37 stumpings have come off the bowling of Shane Warne.

Gilchrist follows in the footsteps of Ian Healy and Rod Marsh in a line of great Australian wicketkeepers to hold the world record. However, it would be a daunting ask for the next line of Australian keepers to keep up to their predecessors. Brad Haddin is most likely to succeed Gilchrist behind the stumps in the Test Cricket.

Kareena dropped!!!

Despite Kareena’s success during 2007, especially ‘Jab We Met’, and hiked performance price, Kareena Kapoor has been dropped from director Imtiaz Ali’s next film. Deepika padukone will be replacing Kareena .Things became still worse for Kareena when director Imtiyz Ali has told a magazine that he had taken Kareena Kapoor for ‘Jab We Met’ even without liking the actress’ and he said those words which should not have been spoken, he said that Kareena is not a good actress at all. The actress was recommended by the her boy friend saif-ali khan who is not only the hero of his next film but also its producer. I really don’t know what is the problem between them, looks like Imtiyz Ali is man with strong likes and dislikes, yet question remains does he have the guts to reject a request of Amir Khan or Shah rukh? Well time will answer it.

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED IN HARBHAJAN's HEARING AFTER SYDNEY TEST? ( just for Fun)

Procter: So you accept that you did.

Bhajji : (Silence Prevails)

Procter : (In a furious note)How dare you insulted a monkey, Mr.Harbhajan?. You are banned for 3 Test Matches.

Bhajji : (Deeply sad and disappointed).

Ponting& Co : !!???( Completely Overjoyed)

Ponting : Hey,Symonds. What he said? How come the judgement had turned in our favour?

Symonds : Whatever it is,he is banned. You can bat well in the next game. Finally, in this series you can bat without getting afraid of Harbhajan.

Ponting : No,Anil Kumble is also there, ask Procter whether he can ban Kumble also.

Symonds : We'll see in next match,if he takes your wicket,we'll definitely complain.

Ponting; Then ok. Come..

(See, Still they can't win us. They lost the match in their so called HOME-TURF at WACA(Perth))

A TOURIST GUIDE TO CHENNAI - MRTS(Mass Rapid Transit System)

MRTS stands for Mass Rapid Transit System is reffered to a particular system of suburban rail network in Chennai from Cheenai Beach Jn to Velachery with tracks running on an elevated platform.

In the 1980s, the Government began planning for a new railway network inside the Chennai city by laying new railway lines as the Suburban Lines offered no connectivity to Central and South Madras ( South Chennai now). The planning for MRTS began in the year 1985 and construction was started in 1991, six years after commencement of the Plan. The first phase was bifurcated into two construction phase-(Chennai Beach Jn to Chepauk, Chepauk to Tirumayilai) and finally opened in the year 1997. In this section of the line , the first three Stations —Chennai Beach Jn, Fort and Park Town, is at ground level and after Park Town, it begins to ply on an elevated surface. All the Stations after Park Town — Chintadripet, Chepauk, Tiruvallikeni, Lighthouse and Thirumaylai are situated on an elevated position

The second phase of the MRTS was planned to connect Thirumaylai to Velachery, a southern suburb of the Chennai city. The stations that are located in between- Mandaiveli, Greenways Road, Kotturpuram, Kasturibai Nagar, Indra Nagar, Tiruvanmiyur, Tharamani, perungudi.Till Perungudi, all the staions are elevated . One of the main stations in this strtech is the Thiruvanmiyur Station which is located just opposite to the Tidel Park, caters to the need of employees working in the IT firms situated in that Corridor. The elevated track between Thiruvanmiyur and Velachery was opened to public on November 19, 2007.

The MRTS runs from Chennai Beach Jn to Velachery and travelling time is about 40 minutes (compared to 2 hours in peak hours for the same distance). The first train from Beach starts at 6.05 am and runs till 8.30 pm. In reverse the first train from Velachery starts at 6.50 am and runs till 9.15 pm.

The planned route for the MRTS will see it turn North after St Thomas Mount and touch the Suburban Line to Arakkonam at Villivakkam before continuing further North East and eventually going down to Grade, i.e. Surface Level again and merging with the Suburban Line to Gummidipoondi at Tondiarpet. The Project is already behind schedule and after the government approved plans for the Chennai Metro, one of whose lines has the same alignment, the MRTS project may never progress beyond St Thomas Mount.

A TOURIST GUIDE TO CHENNAI - BESANT NAGAR BEACH

Besant Nagar is one of Chennai's most elite neighbourhoods, named after the famous lady theosophist Annie Besant, and adjoins the Theosophical Society. The Theosophical Society HeadQuarters located here, is famed for its Banyan trees and serene settings. It was founded in 1875. Kalakshetra Academy, the world famous dance school started by Rukmini Devi Arundale is also present in this locality.

Besant Nagar is primarily a residential neighbourhood comprising of mainly posh dwellings, but also comprises a few slum colonies, mostly belonging to the fishermen toiling the seas near Besant Nagar Beach. It is also home to a number of eminent personalities residing in the area. Originally a quiet residential area, the popularity of the nearby Elliot's Beach, has led to a steady increase in commercial activities.Educational Facilities are also very good in this area, good schools such as St.Johns English School and Junior College are situated in this area.

The road leading from Malar Hospitals to Besant Nagar is quite busy and is shady due to trees planted on either side. INDIAN RAILWAYS TO CONCENTRATE ON HIGH DENSITY FREIGHT ROUTES

Till the dedicated freight corridor is ready, Indian Railways plans to augment its capacity by heavily investing in its high density network and routing incremental investments towards creation of better goods sheds.

The high density network, which comprises rail routes along the golden quadrilateral, its diagonals and the Delhi-Guwahati route, accounts for about 28 per cent of total rail route length in the country. However, about 75 per cent of total freight traffic moves on these routes. Thus, the Ministry has decided to invest about Rs 20,000 crore over the next three to five years in strengthening the high density network.

The investment would be routed to over 100 projects that include doubling, building third lines, improving signalling and building overbridges.

Since Railways has set a target to move 1,100 million tonnes traffic per annum by the end of the Eleventh Plan, it should have created incremental capacity to handle such traffic. With the current infrastructure, Railways expects to handle about 785 mt traffic per annum — that too when it is operating at over 100 per cent capacity utilisation levels in several of the high density routes. During the last three to four years, Railways has primarily augmented capacity by increasing the carrying capacity per wagon and improving the wagon turnaround time.

IPL REAPS A BUMPER WITH Rs 2,798-CRORE BIDS

Franchise bids for the Twenty20 Indian Premier League (IPL) were won by diverse personalities such as film actor Shah Rukh Khan and industrialists Mr Mukesh Ambani and Mr Vijay Mallya. IPL, promoted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), said the bids amounted to $723.6 million (over Rs 2,800 crore). Each bid to own teams in any of eight of the 12 cities where the T20 matches will be played.

The highest winning bid, at $111.9 million, was made by Mr Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries, who got the Mumbai rights. On his heels came the UB Group, headed by Mr Vijay Mallya who won the bid for his home city, Bangalore, at $111.6 million.

Deccan Chronicle bagged the rights for Hyderabad at $107.01 million while Mr N. Srinivasan, Vice-Chairman & Managing Director on behalf of India Cements, won the bid for Chennai while GMR Holdings won Delhi.
Bombay Dyeing scion Mr Ness Wadia and actor Ms Preity Zinta, Mr Karan Paul and Mr Mohit Burman (of the Dabur family) formed a consortium to win the bid for Mohali. The ‘Bollywood’ team of Mr Shah Rukh Khan, Ms Juhi Chawla and her husband Mr Jay Mehta won Kolkata and Emerging Media bagged Jaipur. Announcing the bids, Mr Lalit Modi, Vice-President of BCCI and Chairman & Commisioner of IPL, said, “It is a historic day as corporates are convinced about the product and have shown their appetite and passion for the game of cricket.”

The IPL franchisees will be paying their bid amounts over a period of 10 years. In addition, they would get “central revenues” comprising 80 per cent of the amount paid for the global media rights (to BCCI) in the first five years and another 60 per cent for the remaining five years. The bidders would also get 60 per cent of the sponsorship revenues garnered over the 10-year period.

“The bidding for each of the eight official franchisees has been fair and transparent and is indicative of the revenue earning potential that the Indian Premier League represents,” said Mr Modi.

Speaking to Business Line after winning the Chennai bid, Mr Srinivasan said India Cements viewed its winning bid as a “good investment.” ICL, he said, had always been a supporter of sport, particularly cricket, and the bid reaffirms its commitment to cricket. “We expect to build this into a viable and vibrant franchise,” he said.

Interestingly Mr Anil Ambani also bid for the teams through his company, Emeralds Telecom, and there were others such as DLF and Deutsche Bank who did not win the bids, said sources close to the bidding process. The other bidders who were disqualified due to their late entry were Sahara India, Future Group and ICICI Ventures.
Mr Modi claimed that IPL is a brand on which one of the highest expenditure commitments have been made in the country. The IPL media rights were sold for $1.026 billion (for a 10-year period) to Sony and WSG. O&M would be the creative agency while Mindshare would take care of the media buying rights.

A CHAMPION's FAREWELL?

Will the Adelaide Test be the last in Australia for India’s stars Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman? The answer is yes and no. while Kumble knows this is his last visit to Australia, Tendulkar and Dravid have not written off their chances of another tour.

If it is Tendulkar’s last Test in Australia, Adelaide, Don Bradman’s hometown, is a fitting farewell venue for a number of reasons. Aside from his visits as India's master batsman to Australia that began in 1991-92 when he was 18, he was also in Adelaide for treatment for a severe back injury in 1999.

Peter Roebuck in the Sydney Morning Herald says Australia need not fret about their Perth loss, as the return of Matthew Hayden and Brad Hogg will help immensely, while India must retain their focus.

“India must surge again. Rows about the one-day side will not help. Nothing in Sourav Ganguly's batting or fielding in Perth suggested that he deserved a place in a 50-over side chosen to play on large, antipodean fields. Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman will also be going home, and not a whimper has been heard from their supporters. India cannot allow anything to distract them from matters in hand”.
In the Daily Telegraph, Jon Pierik suggests Ricky Ponting faces one of his toughest challenges in Adelaide.

life on mars?

Life on mars?

All of you know that there is no life in mars but the images released by NASA has caused an internet buzz indicating life on mars. The image looks like a naked woman with outstretched moving on the mountains (don’t try look for a close shot you perverts).

Though NASA hasn’t confirmed the reports people have began speculating the possibility of aliens in mars.i personally believe its an optical illusion caused by a landscape on Mars.

sachin scores 39Th test century

If anyone had criticized Tendulkar’s innings in the first three Tests they should have simply landed up here. He was attacking, authoritative in Sydney, and innovative .he batting stood alone at the end of the day.

He had a very slow start and didn’t score for fist 18 balls but soon runs began to pour. It was interesting to hear Tendulkar talk about the first couple of straight drives here; she felt the ball travelled precisely where he wanted it to go. His game was dynamic and kept changing his style after each miss. This made things difficult for the Aussie bowlers but the bowlers began to bowl really good deliveries but they too were dispatched to the fence.

It was an innings where the good balls were put away, amply illustrated when Brad Hogg said his "best ball of the day" was struck for six. He also revealed his rare shorts: charging the spinners and dispatching them back to the stands for a six.

CRICKET's PREMIER FACE-OFF - AUSTRALIA VS INDIA

The intense rivalry that now exists between Australia and India kicked into high gear in 1997-98, appropriately initiated by a wonderful contest between two champions Shane Warne and Sachin Tendulkar in CHENNAI. With Warne more interested in straight zooters than turning legbreaks, and Tendulkar's glittering career winding down, it was easy to assume this rivalry had been a sprint rather than a marathon. However, the startling events in the current Test series have shown that the contest has had a second wind. We're in for many more years of intense competition between these two proud cricketing nations.

For Australia, talented young cricketers like Michael Clarke, Mitchell Johnson and a revitalised Brett Lee are providing the source for a continued run of success. On the other side, RP Singh, Irfan Pathan and Ishant Sharma are inspiring an Indian side that has for long been only a batting power house. The successful injection of new blood into both teams provides ample evidence that this rivalry is far from a dwindling affair.
India is unearthing a new breed of Test match player, more competitive and resilient. Kumble has embraced this trend and Mahendra Singh Dhoni embodies its spirit. The resurgence of Irfan Pathan is a particularly pleasing aspect of India's determined performance. IRFAN has always been a talented and smart cricketer but that doesn't make him immune to the peaks and troughs all players have to undergo. The good signs at the WACA suggest he's been to the valley and is now on the ascent.

His grit and strokeplay when batting was encouraging but it was the sight of him swinging the new ball at a reasonable pace that suggested his confidence was returning. Moreover, he strode to the wicket as a night-watchman and after outlasting four illustrious partners, returned to the pavilion a bonafide top-order batsman. He won't always have good days but this Test should have given him the confidence to avoid slipping back to the dark times he has just endured.

On the other side, a young Australian fast bowler will have learned a good lesson after a few demoralising days at the WACA. With so much talk about the pitch being fast and bouncy, Shaun Tait was sucked into making an ill-advised comment about bowling the fastest ball ever delivered. Tait should now know that it's wiser to let your deeds do the talking and that Test matches.

Test cricket can be an absorbing contest when bat and ball are evenly matched. And in a game that can be sheep-like in its ability to follow meaningless trends, it's to be hoped the impact of swinging deliveries on recent Test series has been noted. (The fate of the Ashes in 2005 turned on England's ability to swing the ball, and last year India turned the tables on Michael Vaughan's side in the same way. Now we've had the result of a wonderful contest at the WACA determined by the swinging ball.)l. There's nothing like a healthy rivalry and a keen contest to quickly erase any thoughts of madness and conspiracy

CARS TO GET MUCH SAFER, THANKS TO RADARS

The need for better visibility will make radar technology favored over other automotive obstacle detection technologies.

Earlier technologies like sonar, lidar and cameras were thought as a solution but radar clearly outperformed them. Radar uses radio waves that bounce of obstacles. The Radar can determine not only the obstacle, but also its speed in relation to the vehicle. It works efficiently even if the object is reflective but that’s not the case in lidar. It (lidar) uses low power laser beams to determine which are easily deflected by objects and hence isn’t accurate and doesn’t work well during snow, heavy rain or foggy days

The development of SiGe chips in 2009 would greatly reduce the price of radars and we can start expecting the cars to be equipped the radar soon. The sensors used in radar systems will also soon be coming down in price.

looks like the airport authorities are getting little serious about the safety of passengers as, there are still threats to a commercial airliner from the anti social elements. The multinational company BAE Systems plans to install its jeteye aircraft missile defense systems on as many as three American Airlines planes to evaluate its compatibility with daily passenger airline operations.

The defense system uses special sensors to pick up and track heat-seeking missiles heading toward the aircraft, and then fires a laser to disrupt a missile's infrared capabilities. It’s actually not a new concept and already used by the U.S fighter aircrafts i already in use on military aircraft, is safe, easy to use, and compliant with FAA regulations.

According to a survey, at least 40 civilian aircraft have been hit by shoulder-fired missiles the last 30 years.

The Pentagon, has a plan of equipping the passenger aircrafts with ballistic missiles designed to counter even ground targets.

π DAY

π day is March 14, 2006. See how.
π = 3.14159 26535 89793 23846.. …
3.14 = March 14 happens to be pi-day every year. Curiously, it also happens to be Albert Einstein’s birthday. For example, a search for 15081947 gives
“The string 15081947 occurs at position 604,341 counting from the first digit after the decimal point. The 3. is not counted.
The string and surrounding digits:

AMD AND NVIDIA BRING OUT NEW GRAPHIC CARDS

AMD:THE HYBRID CROSSFIRE

AMD is all set out to release their new budget card “THE HYBRID CROSS FIRE”.THE all new budget AMD graphics card will be able to share processing tasks with the graphics chips built into forthcoming AMD-based motherboards.

AMD recently demonstrated that their two low-end chips worked together make even new 3D games playable. Hybrid Crossfire rigged some of most graphically demanding games games like Crysis, Unreal tournament 3 and call of duty. Their performance was impressive and scored better than many of the low end graphics cards in the market. With just a budget Radeon card by itself. Nvidia is rumored to be working on its own version budget cards. I think this will be preferred by Indian gamers

Nvidia:3-way SLI

This is actually a lower end version of quad-SLI technology that Nvidia introduced in 2006, which means there will be no support for DirectX 10 graphics. 3-Way SLI only works with Nvidia's GEFORCE 8800 GTX and 8800 Ultra graphics cards; this means 3-way SLI has been designed for those gamers who already have very high-end systems. If The performance of 3-way SLI tests has been very convincing and has shown significant gains over their traditional two card setups. There’s no wait for 3-way. Just a 3way connector is needed but these connectors will work only on any Nvidia 680i SLI motherboard that has three PCI Express x16 slots.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC

The iPod culture has spurred manufacturers to devise compatible accessories. Here are some of them.

Apple iPods are a cultural phenomenon and that also explains the constant influx of iPod accessories in the market.

Bose joins some of the biggest names in computer and home audios that have responded with systems specifically made for the iPod (and, just as significantly, incompatible with other portable players).

With its Rs 24,637 SoundDock speaker system, Bose uses the now-familiar dock connector base for iPod connectivity. Most small speaker systems — even those with a built-in iPod dock — have a variety of input and output terminals, so you can connect them to your computer, or use them with other makes of MP3 players.

Not the case with the SoundDock, though. It’s designed for use with the Apple iPod and no other brands need apply. The only input connection possible for the SoundDock is through the docking terminal. Just place the iPod in the dock, and start listening.

Because there are slight size differences between the various models of the iPod, Bose includes several adapters that slip down into the docking recess.

Simply snap the appropriate iPod adapter in place, and the player is ready to roll. Bose avoids the issue of multiple outputs as well; the SoundDock’s only output is a headphone jack.

This way, one can either let the SoundDock system send music into room or listen in privacy through headphones. Since the SoundDock is essentially a docking station, iPod is automatically charged whenever connected so there is no worry about running out of power.

If you’re looking for the best sound for Rs 25,000, then Altec Lansing iM7 should be on your list too. These speakers provide a deep bass and the best sound that you can get for this money.

The iM7 provides good performance at the high frequencies and the system’s subwoofer design allows a decent bass, as well. When compared to the SoundDock, the differences are more subtle.

The SoundDock— best for its rich mid-range sound—edges the iM7 in the mid-range, whereas the iM7 with its adjustable treble and bass levels, has the advantage at the extremes.

For most listeners, the SoundDock and iM7 will be fairly comparable in sound quality, although some people will prefer the iM7 because of its ability to fine-tune the treble and bass.

Equaliser and compression is not the best on Bose, and this is where the Altec Lansing inMotion iM7 or JBL speakers step in. Another drawback of Bose SoundDock is that they need to be plugged into AC power.

Also, there is no dock connector on the Bose unit, so you can’t sync your iPod with your computer while it’s in the SoundDock; you must remove it from the SoundDock and connect it to your computer via the iPod’s dock cable or dock base

NARENDRA MODIS' ELECTION PROMISE

A growth rate of around 12 per cent, an impressive human development index (HDI) and development with a ‘human touch’ while ensuring economic prosperity is what the Gujarat government under Narendra Modi is aiming at in the coming five years.

“Gujarat will compete with the developed countries as far as the human development index is concerned. I know it’s difficult, but we will make a sincere attempt,” said Modi. Stating that the outcome of the elections had given a big boost to his government’s development agenda, Modi said the new government would carry forward its agenda.” It gives more strength and motivation to work when we know that people want development and nothing else,” he said while mentioning that schemes such as Nirmal Gujarat will be extended and new ones like ‘Nirogi Balak’ (healthy child) would be introduced.

He said his government was confident of achieving the target set by the Planning Commission to attain a growth of 11.2 per cent.” Modi also promised that all remaining works of the Narmada project would be complete by 2010”. Stating that Gujarat was the only state in the country, which had achieved a high growth of 10.7 per cent, Modi said the model development through people’s participation would be expanded on a much wider scale in the next five years and converted into people’s movement.

SONY CATCHES IPL RIGHTS

For the upcoming IndianPremierLeague( IPL), Sports broadcaster Sony Max and Sports rights company- World Sport Group have jointly paid a whooping Sum of US$1.026billion for the rights to the cricket championship.
This provides SET(Sony Entertainment Television), the partnership and shared rights to the series for 10 years, and brings with it a change of direction for them. Its is to be noted that the Indian cricket team’s early exit from last year’s ICC World Cup resulted in a significant financial loss for SET. Reports estimate SET’s accumulated debts as high as around US$100m.
SET has now turned to the IPL for its future cricket coverage.
The new deal gives World Sport Group the international media rights for internet, mobile and radio, with Sony Max bagging the South Asian TV rights to the competition, which begins on April 18. Auction of the players is to take place on February 20.

TINY UAV'S IN THE SIZE OF A CIGARETTE!!

Researchers at OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY AND DARPA (The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) have developed a sophisticated, unmanned aircraft small enough to fit into a soldier's pocket (size of a cigar).

This class of airplane can measure anywhere from a foot to less than 6 inches long. It uses plasma thrusters with no moving parts. it very simple to use, all that infantrymen have to do is to pull a pack of six or so out of their pocket and have them ready for use The new line of aircraft would take over some of the duties performed by today's UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) fleet, mainly surveillance of hostile areas, and would be a significant improvement over the UAV equipment available to soldiers today,

The university and DARPA have even more deadlier project in mind: an aircraft that can stay aloft for five years at a stretch.

ADVANTAGE

1. It’s cheaper than the NANO bots.

2. Very light which makes it easier for the soldiers to carry.

3. Gives the soldiers the tactical advantage.

4. Its small, this makes it almost invisible to the enemies.

DISADVANTAGE

1. This UAV stays in air for only a short time

HACKERS TARGET POWER GRIDS

Security experts have long warned of the vulnerability of critical infrastructure like power, transportation and water systems to malicious hackers. CIA officials revealed that hackers have penetrated power systems in several regions outside the U.S., and "in at least one case, caused a power outage affecting multiple cities."

In August 2007, researcher Ganesh Devarajan of a security firm threw some light on this matter. He gave a presentation showing techniques that hackers can use to manipulate the SCADA systems and make it vulnerable; the U.S. Department of Homeland Security demonstrated a video which clearly showed how a cyber-intrusion could be used to physically destroy a large power generator. Meanwhile, the CIA is questioning whether or not SCADA is the vulnerability in question.

Bruce Schneier, chief technology officer for security firm BT Counterpane says” Regardless of the tactics used to hack the foreign power systems; he warns that the U.S. has no special immunity. "There's nothing magical about a system being in the U.S.," he says. "The same vulnerabilities are everywhere."

DOUBLE-BLOW FOR AUSSIES

While India was busy celebrating their victory over the Aussies the ICC match referee mike proctor didn’t was Aussies to leave Perth empty handed so he gave them a gift - he fined Ponting's team for slow over-rate.

Ya, that’s right.Australia not only lost the third Test against India at Perth but were also fined for maintaining a slow over-rate in the match.
Aussies were two overs short of their target even after taking into consideration the time allowances.
According to the ICC governing over-rate penalties, the Australian players were fined five per cent of their match fees for every over their side failed to bowl in the allotted time. The captain was fined double that amount.
So, punter (ponting) ended paying fined 20 per cent of his match fee while the other Aussie players were fined 10 per cent of their match fee.

INDIA ENDS THE AUSSIE BLITZKRIEG AGAIN! AND CREATE A HISTORY

Fantastic scenes at the WACA, as the Indians the national flag waving high above spirited shoulders. The much needed victory came at the right time.i bet Anil kumble will remember this test match for a long time. What a fantastic Test cricket this match has been. India beat the favorites inside four days, one to rank as one of their most memorable overseas .INDIA silenced Aussies yet again.

Its been a gripping, emotional four days of cricket from both sides, sessions swinging one way, then the other, There were Some great batting, some exceptional bowling, some stunners held and some gone begging. Many expected India to struggle on the world fastest track, Not long ago did Australian captain Ricky Ponting boasted that his 4 pacers would rattle the Indians. We sure gave a fitting reply to it. it was yet again a team performance and gone are those days where we would rely just on a single individual to win matches for us. Kumble felt it was a special victory especially after the trauma at the Sydney test. Aussies were shattered at the first innings scoring just 212 in reply to India, yet came back well to knock out the famous trio (sachin, ganguly, dravid) and India did well to hang in the match thanks to the great start given by sehwag and pathan (providing a vital 85 runs partnership) not to forget the contributions of vvs laxman who patiently and cautiously spent time in the crease to keep the score board ticking (added 79 runs)sachin -dravid partnership in first innings helped India to get the edge over Aussies. bowlers too did play a major role in the victory thanks to pathan(took 3 wickets). He was adjudged the match of the match while Kumble,R.P Singh, sehwag took two wickets each. Michael Clarke played looked dangerous after a shaky start but thanks to the Indian captain who trapped Clarke by bowling a well flighted ball, Clarke was stumped and Aussies began to feel the heat .There were good performances from Mitchell Johnson and Stuart Clark, especially, while Brett Lee was, as always, consistent. The team was let down by the batting, especially in the first innings. All helped in halting Australia's quest for a record 17Th consecutive win. Like India did in 2001. Finally INDIA won the historic match by 72 runs.

INDIANS have come back hard into the series to make it 2-1 going to Adelaide. Australia did well in short periods, and I bet they'll come back hard in the fourth and final Test.

Post-match presentation

during the post-match presentation, Ricky Ponting was disappointed and blamed the batting and praised India's bowling. He seemed surprised by the pitch, it was as though he wasn’t expecting the pitch to play havoc on them. But he indicated than Indians will have a tough time in the next test by saying these words “I would be surprised if hayden didn’t play in Adelaide”. Anil Kumble, the winning captain. Praised the boys, one could see that his faith in the team was as strong as ever which was evident from these words uttered by him " I thank the boys for a brilliant effort when no one gave us a chance". He was very confident of the young bowling attack. he is looking forward to the next match and said “India will go there with all the confidence.”

Man of the match

Pathan was adjudged the man of the match it was a good come back from him. he seemed pleased with his performance (both with ball and bat). He felt he needed to concentrate on bowling rather than concentrating on being an all rounder.
