Indian automaker Tata Motors has finally unveiled the Tata Nano -- its already legendary $2,500 (1-lakh) car. As expected, the car that Tata claims will change the face of not only the Indian car market, but also the global auto industry .its will be a four door, five seat hatch, powered by a 30 HP Bosch 624 cc four stroke. For the first time a 2-cylinder gasoline engine is in a car with a single balancer shaft. The car is 3.1 meters long, 1.5 meters wide and 1.6 meters high with the capacity to comfortably seat four.The car will come in different models, including one standard and two deluxe variants. The Deluxe variant will have air conditioning, but no power steering. The car is expected to be produced in the singur plant in westbengal which is under construction. The initial production target set by Tata Motors is 250,000 units per year.it has recently got permission from the INDIAN GOVT to legally start the construction of the plant.
Positive aspects
The Nano has 21% more interior space and an 8% smaller exterior, when compared with its closest rival, the Maruti 800.
The standard version of the Nano will cost only RS 100,000.
Cheapest car can fit five people - if they squeeze.
It’s Eco-friendly(meets the EURO-IV norms)
It has met all the safety requirements. it has a metal sheet body with Strong passenger compartments. It also includes intrusion resistant doors and tubeless tires.
Fuel efficient. Its performance is controlled by a specially designed electronic management system.
Provides a good mileage of 20kmpl.
the car is aimed at typical middle class families in India keeping in mind the average income of a middle class family.we will be seeing a lot of these cars on the road thanks to the new IT boom.
Negative aspects
. There’s no radio, no passenger-side mirror and only one windshield wiper in the basic version.
If you want air conditioning to, you need to get the deluxe version.
There isn’t much models available
· critics say the Nano could lead to possibly millions more automobiles hitting already clogged Indian roads, adding to mounting air and noise pollution problems.
