commercial aircraft to employ laser defence system

looks like the airport authorities are getting little serious about the safety of passengers as, there are still threats to a commercial airliner from the anti social elements. The multinational company BAE Systems plans to install its jeteye aircraft missile defense systems on as many as three American Airlines planes to evaluate its compatibility with daily passenger airline operations.

The defense system uses special sensors to pick up and track heat-seeking missiles heading toward the aircraft, and then fires a laser to disrupt a missile's infrared capabilities. It’s actually not a new concept and already used by the U.S fighter aircrafts i already in use on military aircraft, is safe, easy to use, and compliant with FAA regulations.

According to a survey, at least 40 civilian aircraft have been hit by shoulder-fired missiles the last 30 years.

The Pentagon, has a plan of equipping the passenger aircrafts with ballistic missiles designed to counter even ground targets.
