SACHIN TENDULKAR TO CARRY THE OLYMPIC TORCH AMIDST CONTROVERSY


Master Batsman Sachin Tendulkar is all set to carry the Beijing Olympic Torch in Delhi on April 17. The 34-year old Veteran Cricketer would be a part of the Beijing Torch Relay.

"It is a great honour for me. I grew up watching the Olympics and I am looking forward to carry the torch," said Tendulkar. When asked about the Controversy surrounding the Protests, he refused to comment about it.

"Shame on China" slogan is being shouted by the number of Tibetian Protesters and Human Rights Activists all around the World. Fearing Protests from the Tibetian supporters, the Indian Olympic Association has planned to shortened the Torch relay Route to 2-3Kms from the actually planned 8-9Kms from RED FORT to India Gate.

It is interesting to note that the National FootBall team Captain Bhaichung Bhutia has refused to carry the Olympic Torch to show his support to the Tibetians. Athletes Anju Bobby George, Milkha Singh, Gurbachan singh Randhawa will take part in the Torch relay. 80 Prominent Indians will carry the Olympic Torch including Tennis player Leander Paes and Actor Aamir Khan..
