IS INDIA'S FATE IN HANDS OF RESERVATION?

The Supreme Court on April 10 2008 upheld a law that provides for 27 Per cent Reservation for OBC's in the educational institutions Supported by the Central Government. However, the court has not given any decision regarding Reservation in private colleges. Total Reservation in Educational institutions supported by the Central Government now stands at 49.5% which includes an already existing 22.5% quota for SC's /ST's and the present 27% Quota for OBC's.

In my view, I do not oppose Reservation. But why can't it be done based on the Economic Position of a person? Does the Reservation policy actually Caters to the need of Poor and Down-trodden? Moreover the present reservation policy that is being framed on a Census taken in 1931 sounds completely Ridiculous. There is no justice for People if the Reservation is based on the Caste System.

The Government has failed to keep up its Promise of increasing the number of Seats in the IIT's and IIM's such that the Present Reservation system does not affect the people of all Classes. How come a country is expected to Move forward when majority of the people prefers themselves to be called as Backward?

Are the poor and needy people the actually benefeciaries of Reservation? Well, it seems to be the otherwise. Where is this country going? Does the fate of INDIA lies in the Clutches of Reservation? If that is the case, I am afraid the concept of BRAIN DRAIN would affect our Country very much..
